Well attended AGM

With 44 members in attendance our annual AGM was a very constructive, efficient and sociable event for Waterford AC. In nice warm surroundings in the Dome bar at WIT a full agenda was worked through with many issues presented, debated and agreed upon.

Club secretary Malachy McGlynn handled proceedings and with reports from Club Captain, Tom O'Brien, Malachy, Treasurer Deirdre Chapman and Juvenile club representative Albert Tebay all agreed that much progress has been made within the club in the past year in producing a vibrant, sociable and developing club.

Generally it was agreed that the club has increased participation at all levels of the club and with almost 500 members is in a good position. Juvenile and Masters level participation is significant but senior level needs to increase and this will take some time. County, Munster and National competition has increased, with many individual and team medals won, and some trips abroad for both championship events and road races have proved popular with members in 2010 and are to be encouraged.

It was agreed to continue to develop links formed with WIT in 2010 in terms of assisting the WIT Athletic Club in providing facilities for both cross country and Track & Field facilities in the future and assist in their proposed race in March.

Members Des Colbert and Derek Grant were thanked for their many years of service on the committee of WAC and Pauline Lambe and Tomas Caulfield were welcomed onto the committee.

The club person of the year was presented to Tom Murray for years of outstanding service to Waterford AC as both an athlete and coach and Tom spoke about the many great things happening within the club in recent years and looks forward to a very promising future for the club.

Thanks were expressed to WIT for the use of the Dome bar for the AGM.

A new email address ideas@waterfordac.com was launched and members were encouraged to communicate with the club in terms of suggestions, comments and general ideas of what the club might do and the Club Captain confirmed that all ideas will be presented to the committee on a monthly basis.
